För att uppmärksamma Human Rights Day den 10 december bjuder Amnesty’s HBTQ-grupp in till en visning av dokumentären Lesbophobia - en drabbande film om den homofobi lesbiska kvinnor möter i dagens Sydafrika.
Efter visningen hålls samtal med dokumentärens skapare, där du som besökare får en inblick kring de möten och attityder som ligger till grund för filmen. Vad skapar lesbofobi och varför ökar våldet mot just lesbiska och transexuella män i Afrikas mest proaktiva hbtq land?
Kvällen kommer även bjuda på poesi, lättare förtäring och en chans att lära dig mer om Amnesty’s verksamhet samt delta i föreningens solidaritetsaktioner mot homofobi.

Om Lesbophobia:
I Nelson Mandelas Rainbow Nation skulle ett land för alla skapas, oavsett ras, kön eller sexuell läggning - ett land där apartheids homogena samhälle skulle lösas upp. Idag, 2013, står det klart att allt inte blev som det var tänkt, detta trots en av världens mest progressiva och jämställda lagstiftningar. Genom det grälla Kapstaden breder en homofobi kraftigt sig ut, från innerstadens höghus till kåkstädernas skjul. Tidningarna chockerar ständigt med fall om lesbiska kvinnor som våldtas och mördas.
I Lesbophobia presenteras bland annat en rad starka kvinnokämpar som delar med sig av sina livshistorier och vi får se på världen genom deras ögon. Följ med på en fängslande resa där våldets realitet undersöks - religionen och kulturens grund ifrågasätts och den kraftiga segregationen ställs mot väggen.
Om Human Rights Day:
Human Rights Day sker varje år den 10 december. Dagen finns till som ett minnesmärke där, år 1948, FNs generalförsamling tillämpade den Universala Deklarationen för Mänskliga Rättigheter.
Om Amnesty’s HBTQI-grupp:
Amnesty’s HBTQI-grupp i Stockholm verkar aktivt för att stödja och främja HBTQI-personers mänskliga rättigheter världen över.
Amnesty anser att rätten att leva i enlighet med sin sexuella läggning eller könsidentitet är en grundläggande mänsklig rättighet. Amnesty anser att de som fängslats enbart på grund av sin sexuella läggning eller könsidentitet eller för att ha försvarat sexuellt likaberättigande är samvetsfångar och kräver att de ska friges omedelbart och villkorslöst. Amnesty anser även att lagstiftning rörande sexuella brott ska vara lika oavsett sexuell läggning eller könsidentitet.

To pay attention to Human Rights Day on December 10th, Amnesty’s HBTQI group will invite you to take part in a showing of the documentary Lesbophobia - a haunting film about homophobia in today’s South Africa.
After the showing, a conversation will be held together with the movie’s creators, giving a deeper knowledge concerning the meetings and attitudes that took place during filming. What creates Lesbophobia and why are the violence increasing against lesbians and transgender men in Africa's most proactive LGBTQ country?
The evening will also offer poetry, refreshments and the opportunity to learn more about Amnesty’s operations.

About Lesbophobia:
In Nelson Mandela’s Rainbow Nation a land would be created for all, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation - a land where apartheid’s homogenous society would be resolved. In 2013, (when the movie was made) it’s clear that not everything became the way it was planned. This, despite one of the world’s most progressive and equal legislations. Through the flaring Capetown, an expanding homophobia is present, from the inner city’s high buildings to the sheds in the townships. The newspapers are constantly shocking with cases of lesbian women that are raped and killed.
In Lesbophobia, a line of strong women right’s activists are introduced, sharing their life stories, letting the audience see the world through their eyes. Join them on a captivating trip, where the realness of violence are being explored, religion and the foundation of culture questioned and the hard hitting segregation is being challenged.

Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Amnesty’s HBTQI group in Stockholm are actively working to support and improve HBTQI people’s human rights all over the world.
Amnesty believes that the right to live according to ones sexual orientation or gender identity is a basic human right. Amnesty believes that the people that are imprisoned solely based on their sexual orientation, gender identity or because he/she has fought for LGBTQ rights is a prisoner of conscience and should therefor immedietely be released. Amnesty also believes that the legislation concearning sexual crimes should be the same regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
